Cheadle project case study

New drain installation in Cheadle

This Cheadle job involved installing new underground drainage through a narrow side passage. The photos show the pipe run, branch connections and a grated gully taking shape between the buildings.

01

The new drain run through a narrow passage

The available route ran between two buildings, with limited working space and scaffold supports through the passage. The photos show an excavated trench, new orange drainage pipework and branch connections being fitted along the run.

A grated gully was also connected into the pipework. The images record the installation stage before the surface was reinstated; they do not show a final flow test or finished paving.

02

Why careful pipe layout matters

A new drain needs a suitable route, connected joints and a consistent fall so wastewater can flow towards the intended connection. Tight access can make excavation and fitting more involved, especially where new branches or gullies have to meet the main run.

The right layout depends on what the site connects to and what is found during the work. A photo can show the visible pipe arrangement, but it cannot confirm underground levels, permissions or test results.

03

Repair, replace or install a new run?

The work required depends on the condition and layout of the existing drainage. A localised defect may be repairable, while a failed or unsuitable section may need replacing. A new run may be appropriate where a connection or drainage route needs to be added.

Inspection and site conditions should guide that decision. If a drain is repeatedly blocking or holding water, clearing it and checking the pipe can help identify whether a repair or replacement is justified.

Drain installation in Cheadle and nearby areas

Blocked Drains North West works across Cheadle, Greater Manchester and the surrounding area on drain clearance, CCTV inspection and drainage repairs. For a suspected installation or replacement, the first step is to assess the route, access and connection points on site.

Common questions

Cheadle project case study

What do the Cheadle installation photos show?+

They show an excavated route through a narrow side passage, new underground pipework, branch connections and a grated gully. The photos were taken during the installation before surface reinstatement.

Can a damaged drain always be repaired without replacing it?+

No. Some faults can be repaired locally, while the condition, position and extent of damage may make replacement of a section more suitable. An inspection helps establish the right scope.

Do you install or replace drains in Cheadle?+

Blocked Drains North West handles drainage work in Cheadle and nearby areas. The options depend on the existing pipework, access and the route and connections required.
